“When our relationship is anchored in the God, in the divine… we get beyond our acting and allow infused contemplation, God and the Spirit, to do their work in us… our interactions with others become more sensitized, allowing for the integrity, freedom, and dignity in the other person, in their own journey, which comes from their own anchoring in God.”

– Dr. Rory McEntee, “Deepening Relationships with the Spirit and the Community,” Opening Minds, Opening Hearts podcast

Our new episode is “The Fullness of the Measure: Unfolding an Interspiritual Dharma with the Venerable Pannavati.” In this episode, we explore the Venerable Pannavati’s journey from Evangelical Christianity to a trans-lineage Buddhism, discussing simple and complex religious perspectives, a ‘relational’ and ‘American Buddhism,’ and the ordination of Theravadan Buddhist nuns along the way.

The New Monastics Podcast can be found on Spotify, Apple, YouTube, iHeart radio, and more.

Miller Center for Interreligious Learning and Leadership: Beacon of Hope

Last month, co-founder Netanel Miles-Yépez was named Miller Center for Interreligious Learning and Leadership’s “Beacon of Hope”.

Each month, they honor an individual whose commitment aligns with the bridge-building efforts of the Miller Center. A center at Hebrew College that provides current and future religious and ethical leaders with the knowledge and skills to serve in a religiously diverse society. They work with clergy, academics, and communal leaders, as well as high school, undergraduate, and graduate students and seminarians.

A Look Back at Our Summer Retreats

As our seasons begin to shift from Summer to Fall, we look back with gratitude toward the beautiful retreats we shared at Charis Mandala: Charis Circles Facilitation Training, Path of Sufism, Right Use of Power, and Contemplative Outreach of Colorado Board of Directors Retreats.

This episode features Dr. Rory McEntee, a religion scholar and philosopher-theologian working at the intersection of contemplative life, education, social justice, and culture. He is the co-author of The New Monasticism: An Interspiritual Manifesto for Contemplative Living and the co-founder and Executive Director of the Charis Foundation for New Monasticism and Interspirituality.

The Power of the Volcano!

The land speaks to us and teaches us in so many ways! Volcanoes themselves can be seen as a symbol of trial. Their formations are mountainous, making it easy to see how they can represent the, at times, upward challenge our lives.  Arising largely upward from an otherwise unassuming landscape, volcanoes remind us of the goals we aspire to reach, the journey to get there, and the value of the climb to the top.

Pictured here is Capulin Volcano, a national monument we see from Chairs Mandala in New Mexico.
